Khon Kaen International Marathon 2023! Where? How much? Hot?

If your answer is YES, Khon Kaen International Marathon 2023 is reccomended for you! My husband and I joined the marathon race on January 29th 2023! So, in this article, I am going to talk about out experience of Khon Kaen International Marathon 2023! If you are interested in, please cheack it out!

💭Where is Khon Kaen in Thailand?
Do you know where Khon Kaen is located in Thailand?
- It's northeast. It takes around 1 hour by airplane from Bangkok.
This place is actually famous for fossils of dinosaurs. So, you can find many monuments of dinasaurs there. This race logo symbol includes a dinasaur too, which is very attractive✨
💰 Perticipation Fee
In this marathon, you can choose from full, half, mini, and fun-run.
I applied for 11.55km mini-marathon since I am very much beginner, and my husband tried to run half-marathon.
HALF: 1100 baht
We applied 3 months before the race month, November 2022. We think it is very reasonable price to take part in.
💬FYI...
Flights (between Bangkok and Khon Kean) and 1 night hotel stay costed about 6000 baht! Since it's very reasonable, we think that it's a good idea to travel around Thailand with a marathon race. A marathon event usually closes in the morning, so if you have any energies left, you can enjoy sight-seeing after the race👍
🏃 Flow of the race
First-off, we had to pick up our race-kits (BIB, Original T-shirt, Vouchers) and check-in before 7pm on 28th.
We decided to flight from DMK to KKC around 3pm on 28th (a day before the race day). From KKC airport, we took a taxi to Khon Kaen University to check-in.
Khon Kaen University looks very nice and calm. There is a lake near the entrance. You can sit down and relax along there. We actually took a little walk and enjoyed the view and atmosphere.
After that, we moved to hotel, and had dinner near the hotel and tried to sleep earlier but....We were TOO EXCITED TO SLEEP well! lol
The race day!
We woke up around 2:30am to have some breakfast. We read some information that the Shuttle bus was near our hotel, so tried to take it but it had gone , and actually we needed to book in advance. It took 15 min to drive to the starting point. There were NO taxi at that time.
We literally got stack... We looked around and saw many youger people getting out from some night club. There was only one Tuk-Tuk waiting for someone who needs to go home from there. We found you!!! The driver nicely took us to the starting point on time!😂

Wow... soooo many runners! Exciting music, photo spots..... It's like a festival!
We went to bathroom in advance, and left laggage before starts.
👀Atmosphere of the race
FINALLY!
My husband started half marathon at 4am, then I started mini marathon at 4:45am.
It was dark outside when he started to run. I guess the temparature was around 20℃. A bit chilly compared to Bangkok. But, better for running.
Well, my husband finished with the best record this time. He did really good job.
...Me? I actually got an opperation of appendicitis a week before the race day, so finished by almost walking and jogging. But! I love this finisher medal!
💡 Precaution!
✅Check your check-in date and book a hotel or not!✅The shuttle bus may be needed to book in advance!
✅Very chilly in the morning and at night so bring extra clothes!
